Today I return to you with movie reviews! (yay?) I recently saw 'Brave' and 'Battleship'. Now then, which of these two do you think disappointed me?

The correct answer is....Brave!
Brave was Pixar's first go at a princess movie, which was exciting. However, it fell flat for me. I really liked the ideas in it- stubborn princess, magic spells, stregnth of family ties.... But so much of it was just .... there. It was good, don't get me wrong, but there was just wasted potential! (Also, I didn't appreciate the crass humor in it. Didn't add to the story and just lowered my opinion further. xp )
Lesson: Disney may own Pixar, but Pixar only has flickers of the Disney magic. An interesting fact, since other studios have mananged to produce movies that had so much of that same magic that they are often thought of as Disney films. Go figure.
However, Battleship was a different story. It had a bunch of publicity as well, but where Brave's propaganda made me want to see it the second it arrived in theatres, Battleship's advertising just made me go, "Yep. Hollywood's officially out of ideas when it makes a movie based off a children's board game. ...Oh, there's aliens in it? That's kinda stupid too...." So I wasn't expecting much when I went to see it (at the local dollar theatre! yay cheapness!) But it was actually pretty good! The characters were well-rounded, there were plenty of good action scenes as well as some comedy to keep the edge off, and though the plot was lacking in places, I enjoyed it.
Lesson: Don't judge a movie by its orgins? Or something like that? xd
