Diary Entry 3: Random Word Essay: Floppy-eared Dog
(Um, this was another random word essay I did. It turned out a lot more disturbing than the other one and I'm wondering slightly why that is. Anyway, this one is about a floppy-eared dog whom has really awful luck.) Desirae the Floppy-eared Dog Who Wanted More Desirae was Black Lab who lived in a small little town with a elderly couple whom loved her dearly. Desirae loved them dearly too and was content in thinking that she would live with them forever, but this was not the case. The elderly couple knew that though they were once young, they weren't so anymore and they could hardly take care of themselves much less a dog. So, with canes in hand they walked down the steep steps to the sidewalk, chilp chlop chilp chlop, and knocked on their neighbor's door. Knock Knock. A cheery faced couple answered and upon hearing the elderly couple's dilemma offered to take care of Desirae. Desirae was sad to say goodbye, but was happy with the aspects of being taken for a walk and being able to play. So, into the cheery couple's house she moved and for a while she was happy. One bright morning, as she was fetching the newspaper for the creepily cheery couple, she saw her old owners' faces on the front cover. Her old owners, however looked different. Not happy as she had known them, but silent and unmoving. She gave the newspaper to the couple and they seemed angry. They began hitting Desirae with the newspaper and screamed: “Look, they're dead and now we're stuck with this Goddamn dog!” Desirae's eyes filled with tears and she bounded to a quiet corner of the house. She could hear their screams echoing through the rooms and suddenly she heard a BANG! And then another one. Desirae never saw the couple again, but instead went to a place with lots of other dogs. So, with other dogs she played and for a while she was happy. One bright morning, as she was playing with her new-found friends a man in a long white coat and a peculiar mask showed up. He told her that she was going to a beautiful place with lots of other doggie friends and no more pain. She wondered what he was talking about, but she liked the sound of that place he called: Havn. The man picked her up, quite suddenly and carried her into a strange room. Another dog was in the room, but that dog didn't talk. It just stared at her, forever and never blinked. She wondered at the curious dog, but then the dog was taken away and she was left alone. She was a bit lonely in that curious place until the man in the white coat returned. He told her she would feel no pain and then she would enter the magical place and be forever free. She felt strange as a strange gas formed around her, but then she felt no more. Desirae was free. -Laura Harden
