RIP Elizabeth Taylor. I never loved her as I loved Katherine Hepburn, but she's done so many amazing things and she lived her life as bold and epic as anyone, something I can only admire. Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf stands the test of time and was always my favorite of hers, although she hated to watch it herself. Y'all know how I feel about poor doomed Richard Burton, so likely my choice of a favorite is no surprise. She was one of the first celebrities to stand up for people dieing of AIDS and she did a lot for AIDS charities at a time when the government was pretending that it wasn't happening or claiming that it didn't matter as it was god's wrath on sinners instead of a microbe. She did AIDS activism something like twenty five years, raising who knows how much money, and founded amFAR. Rest in peace, Ms. Taylor, it's been a tumultuous ride.
