i look at the banana i'm about to eat
it's small,
smaller than average
it's got brown spots
there's a dark bruise
near the top and
there are many blemishes
on this particular fruit
but as i peel it open
the meat is pure white
on the inside
under the skin
as it were
this fruit is immaculate
and sweet
and aromatic
So many people
would pass by
this particular banana
for a greener,
newer or less tainted
little fruit
but i,
i chose the spotted one
and it has made all the difference to me
all the difference to me
