Zane easily won the match- his opponent had withdrawn after seeing what Flare had done to the Weezing in the last match. Now it was Brock he had to face. The gym leader looked at him with some contempt. "You dont seem like the kind of person to care for your pokemon. I'll show you the error of your ways." The words were full of scorn, which made Zane angry. What did this puffed up a** know? How could he even begin to understand how worried Zane was that Arina was hurt, or that Flare could be injured in this match? Teach HIM? -Master- Flare spoke to him, -I will show him your strength.- Zane rubbed the Charmeleon's head, letting go of some of his anger. "If you feel like you have to give up, dont worry, alright? We can come back later." he said it softly, and finished his words with a small pat. He didnt care what Brock thought he saw, but if the simpleton thought that Flare was going to lose because of some lack of caring on his part, the idiot had another thing coming. "Since you only have one pokemon, We'll settle this in one round. Onix!" the gym leader called, tossing the pokeball into the ring. The Rock Snake pokemon appeared in a flash of light. "Flare." Zane called his pokemon to step forward. "Begin!" called the referee. The Onix immediately went on the attack, assuming the smaller pokemon would run or dodge. Flare did neither, but rushed forward under the onslaught of the attack of the Rock type. "Onix, Rock Slide!" The leader called, and the pokemon released a avalanche of rock. "Agility." was Zane's only order. Flare the Charmeleon lept from one stone to the next, eventually getting on par with the larger pokemon's head. "Finish it." Zane said. Flare's claws took on a metallic sheen as they cleaved through the rock pokemon's tough shell as though it were butter. The Iron Claw had won the match. The leader gave the badge to Zane, without saying a word, but Zane couldnt resist a parting shot. "You're right, it was finished in one round." he said as he left the gym.
The first thing that passed through Zane's mind when he saw the pokemon center was shock. When the nurses told him what had happened however, his mind went blank. Arina had been stolen. The professor's words flew through his head in a jumbled mass. 'You have a connection to Pokemon of the Dark, Steel, Psychic, Dragon and Normal types' 'You can command any pokemon of those types no matter their power.' 'There are things that 'Light' cannot do that 'Dark' can, so you should grow to be the 'Dark' for the good, just as there is 'Light' for the bad.' "If you have to do something Dark, dont get caught." Dont get caught. Be the Dark Running out of the town and into the forest, Zane released an inhuman scream that resounded through the forest as the sun fell from the sky. Creatures of the night, Hunters that ruled the land that was not touched by light felt the rage of a creature that was so far beyond them, they knew it was the ultimate predator. Houndoom and Houndor howled from their Den's across the world, the dragons of the land trembled at the call of their leader, and the songs of the Steel types resounded in an almost unholy chorus. Few humans could begin to understand the noise, but a select few heard and trembled as the Psychic pokemon added their mental and physical cries to the noise. As one, the pokemon suddenly silenced themselves, and began to hunt for that which had forced such a call to them... And they would make sure that the enemy of the crier would pay dearly for their transgression.
