xxxx“Why the hell would I want Rara’s jewelry!? I don’t even like Citrine and gold!” I all but screamed at my Mother.
xxxxWhen we were born, my sisters and I were given one-of-a-kind jewelry set from our Grandparents that were our birthstones. Cat’s was white gold and Amethyst, mine was Sapphire and silver, and Rara’s was Citrine and gold, and Rara had accused me of stealing hers.
xxxx“I know Kiki stole it, Mom!” Rara, who had just turned 19, also yelled. She was standing just inside of my room, pointing at me with tears welled up in her eyes. “I know she did! She’s always taking my things because she’s a horrible little brat!”
xxxx“Shut the frick up, you witch! Look whose talking! You’ve stolen over two thousand bucks worth of my money!” I snapped back, glaring at her from my place in front of my bed.
xxxxMother let out a small sigh and flipped the hair hanging over her shoulder back. “Now, now, girls. How about I just take a look in Kiki’s jewelry box to solve this whole problem, alright?”
xxxxI let out a growl, but did nothing when Mom walked over to my dresser and opened my simple jewelry box, since I was innocent.
xxxx“Kitrina Elizabeth Lennox!”
xxxxOh crap. I was in trouble. Mom only used my full name when I was in deep trouble. And apparently, at the current moment, I was.
xxxx“What is the meaning of this!? I thought you didn’t like her set!” Mom exclaimed, holding up the intricate necklace for me to see.
xxxx“Bu- I- She- No-” I had been set up.
xxxxMom looked angry as all hell. “Young lady, you’re grounded!”
xxxx“What!?” I demanded, apalled. “But the school dance is tomorrow! I already got my ticket!”
xxxxMom turned, the set in her hand. “Well too bad. I suppose you’ll just have to deal with it.”
xxxxI stood there gaping. I had spent over five months altering and adding to a cute purple dress I had picked out, just to get grounded the night before!?
xxxxWhen I heard Mother’s door shut I glared at Rara, teeth clenched, as she leaned against my door frame with her arms crossed over her chest and a smirk on her lips.
xxxx“You b***h!” I hissed, about ready to throw a punch.
xxxxMy own sister had set me up so I couldn’t go to the dance I had been preparing for for just under half a year. I knew she always hated me.
xxxxHer smirk widened and I was so tempted to yank out a patch or two of her red hair. Like Mom, Rara and Cat had naturally bright red hair, while I got Dad’s brown hair with a red tint.
xxxx“Aw~, that’s just too bad, sweetie. And you had been so looking forward to this little dance thing too. But it’s not my fault you had to go and ruin it by stealing my jewelry like the little thief you are.” She said, her smirk forming into a pout.
xxxxI felt myself twitch.
xxxx“Get out of my room!” I yelled, walking over and pushing out, slamming my door behind her.


xxxxI let out a sigh as I recalled the events that happened the evening before. “Great job, Kiki. You definitely succeeded at making yourself look like a brat, that’s for sure.” I murmured to myself, pressing the green A button on the gamecube controller.
xxxxI had been playing Chibi-Robo since I had gotten home from school to get rid of some of my negative energy. After all, it was almost impossible to stay angry while playing that particular game.
xxxx“Yay! I'm finished!” I exclaimed, jumping up and posing victoriously as Giga-Robo came back to life and headed upstairs to go outside to get his final wish from the Aliens.
xxxxI took a glance at my gir clock, which sat on my nightstand, and noted that there was a good hour before the dance started. If I were to sneak out, it would give me plenty of time to get ready and get to the school, which was only about seven blocks away.
xxxxAfter cackling evilly, I took a quick shower, then did my hair. The only thing I could really do was straighten, though, so that didn’t take long. Since my bathroom is attached to my room, I was able to discreetly get ready.
xxxxOnce finished, I stood infront of my full-length mirror and inspected my appearance. I hadn’t gone as fancy as I could have, since I was just going with my girlfriends, but had made sure I still looked good since I did wish to get asked out. I was sixteen and still hadn’t had a boyfriend yet, for crying out loud!
xxxx“Absolute perfection.” I commented, smoothing out the front of the dress. It came to just before my knees, and had a petticoat, so it poofed a bit, and I had sewn on abstract flowers in a darker shade of purple that matched the purple of the ribbon around the waist.
xxxx“M’kay. Now to getting away.” I murmured, grabbing my jacket.
xxxxI put my shoes in my bag, since there was no way in hell I was going to chance getting them all dirty, and pushed open my window, slipping onto the roof with ease.
xxxxMy sneakers had a good grip on the shingles, so I didn’t slide as I carefully made my way over to where the tree in our front yard had a branch hanging over the roof.
xxxx“Oof!” I grunted as my entire weight was supported by my arms. Once I made sure I had a firm hold on the bark I shimmied my way down until I was only about a yard from the ground, then dropped.
xxxxThen I ran, and I didn’t stop until I was a block and a half away.
xxxx“Mission accomplished!” I said, giggling. Since we had already had dinner it meant that I was probably safe. My family went our separate ways after dinner, and everyone left everyone else alone, really.
xxxxAfter doing a little victory dance, I continued on my way to the school.
xxxxI was on cloud nine when I reached the corner before the school.
xxxxThe light to my left turned red, and walk signal turned green, so I began crossing the street.
xxxxThat’s when I heard a loud screech and something hit me hard, and my vision went blurry. I felt myself fall to the ground, but it was weird. Not real. Like my body was disconnected or something.
xxxxI heard the slam of a car door and then yelling. Was the person yelling 911? I couldn’t tell.
xxxxThe urge to close my eyes and fall asleep overwhelmed me, and I did. Then everything was taken over by black.
