Criminal Minds:
I do like them best when the abductees are tough, intelligent, resourceful, and survival oriented. So often the wouldbe victims on shows like this are shown as helpless, already dead or just waiting to be rescued. CM periodically shows folks fighting back with whatever means are at their disposal. I like when they show survivors instead of bodies. I like particularly that they do this with women and girls. I don't want to get into the Morgan/Garcia stuff. Y'all likely know how I reacted if you know me and the show. It was a pleasant surprise to see them do something with JJ for the first time in ages. I'd like to have seen them do more with Prentiss, maybe have her deal with Morgan, because for reasons I can't put into words, that makes beautiful sense. I think it's something along these lines: Morgan has an older brother relationship with GHarcia and Reid, but he and Prentiss are more equals, despite the current shift in team politics, and have a sort of snarky relationship that makes it feel okay for her to call him on his s**t. Rossi's got the old man of the group anchor position, and Hotch is in a messy power relationship with Morgan right now do to the current politics and Hotch doesn't generally interfere anyway. JJ is half in and half out of the family dynamic. Prentiss feels like the right one to me, she just does. Also, it was rather cool to see Tim Curry doing something completely different. His acting in the second half of the two parter was something special. They clearly hired him for the things his face can do in silence. BTW, I am very cool with Morgan getting more prominence. I feel like we've really only just started to see who he is and what he can be, so spotlight time should reveal that.
