I ignored those binary rules about which books were for girls and which for boys. I believe I read as many Nancy Drews as Hardy Boys, not seeing much difference between them at the time. I've shelf read a lot of children's libraries over the years, and there are always more Nancy Drews, often lots more Nancy Drews. Sometimes the Hardy Boys collection is five books or less, while Nancy generally has more than one shelf to herself, often many shelves. Hardy Boys are mostly ignored/forgotten while there is something iconic about Nancy Drew. Huh.
