"Citizens of block 211A, please take route 428 East and wait for further instructions...Citizens of block 236B, please take rou--" the crackling car radio voice was suddenly silenced and replaced by more softer, soothing words.
"We don't need to be told where to go, I already know what to do," it was a male's voice, my brother's voice, coming from the driver's seat to my left. Of course he knows, it is and evacuation after all. But that didn't nessecarily mean he was going to follow orders.
I leaned my head against the cold glass of the car window. It felt good on my hot head, but the vibrations were making my brain hurt. By the sound of things, and I heard nothing, we were on the Interstate.
"We should hurry, if we don't want to get arrested," I commented as I pulled my head away from the door and rested it on the seat. There wasn't a reply, so I figured he was thinking. He usually blocks out things when he does.
The following silence made time seem to pass so slowly. A lifetime had passed before we heard the sirens.
"Just in time," my brother said before I felt the car veer off and pull over.
