She was lying on her bed, singing along to the words that were playing from her laptop. He wasn't sure what else she was doing on the computer but he knew she was sad. Standing in her doorway he could see her sadness as clearly as if it were a shining neon light.

" Hey 'Laina..." Corin spoke quietly as he walked into her door way. She had been sad for quite some time and he wanted to know why. Quickly she turned and gasped when she saw him. Her hair was in a ponytail with a red tie holding it together. Her hair was a beautiful golden brown, like freshly baked bread. Her eyes were a stunning gold red, gleaming in the sunlight at dusk.

"Corin, what are you doing here?" Illaina asked, trying to sound as normal as possible.

"Your mom let me in." Corin walked over to Illaina's bed and sat on it's edge while she scooted into a sitting position. They and been childhood friends as long as they could remember and him being in her room was alright with both their parents. "What's wrong?"

"What do you mean?"

"You've been upset for a while now. I'm your best friend, Illaina. You can talk to me. Tell me what has been going on. I want to help." Corin pleaded and Illaina sighed and nodded her head.

"I guess I'll get right to the point." Her voice was quiet and she stared at her tighs, her legs kicking on the side on the bed.

"Well you've always been good at that." Coring chuckled and Illaina laughed quietly.

"Corin..." Both waited in a pregnant silence. "Corin, I love you."

"Was that all that was wrong?" Corin had a feeling there was a little more to it than that.

"You don't love me back." Her statement was simple and he could hear the held back grief.

"Now I never said that. How could I have if you had never asked nor said anything?" Corin stated and the brunette's head shot up to look at him. Her eyes were shocked and Corin's face was a quiet smug.

"Do you?"

"...Yes..." Illaina jumped on him, planting his cheeks with kisses. Their relationship wouldn't be awkward in the beginning like most couples. It was meant to be that normal and comfortable and they made sure it was.
