Won't they listen, can't they hear her scream?
Won't they check on her, do they know what she's planning?
Won't they do something, can they even care?
Won't they at least knock on the door?
Can she be heard? Yes and no.
Do they choose to listen? No, they don't.
Do they even pretend to care? Only in crowds....
Does anyone even check on her? Only two....
But they're so far away....
And to young to drive to see her...
Though they all wish they were....
It kills them all to see her in pain...
Even herself....
She fears she will always be alone...
She fears the light, only for shining on everyone near her...
She fears the dark, for it to share her secrets with the light....
She fears words, for they hurt and can be meaningless...
"I'm always going to be there for you." her father promised her.
He left her alone in the world.
"You promised Dad..."she whispers in the dark every night.
She won't pray, for the lord people believe is never there.
She won't talk about it, for everyone will tell.
She can't be alone, for the dark whispers evil thoughts in her ear.
She can't be near people, for she feels she'll explode...
She feels like a bottle,
Trapping everything inside.
She feels so cold, for she only felt the warmth once.
She wishes for the warmth to return, she can't stay in the cold much longer...
She needs someone to listen...to believe.
She can't tell...
Now she feels even worse...her feelings trapped.
Her sanity is about to leave...her heart about to disappear...
"Her father left, I wish it were her instead." someone whispered.
"I wish it was me..." she whispers so no one will hear.
She grabs her things and leave. "I have to go." she says.
"See ya later." her so called "friends" say.
"I hope no one does..." she whispers as she leaves.
She thinks, and hopes the darkness will whisper an evil thought.
"Don't..." her father's voice says.
She opens her eyes in shock.
"Daddy...?" she asks and reaches out in the air.
She feels his hand on her shoulder.
"...Is that really you?" she asked and tried to turn around.
She stopped. "You can stop your cruel joke..."
She knew that her father was dead and never coming back to see his little girl.
She needed to stop hoping,
"Just go. No one even cares." she closed her eyes and cried...
The hand stayed, "I care."
Her father's voice...
"Just stop, I want what's left of my sanity." she cried into her hands.
The hand stayed and she heard the voice call her name.
"You know, this is cruel. I can't believe you would sink this low." she cried.
The hand tried to turn her around, she wouldn't move.
"STOP!!!"she screamed."I hate your cruel prank, Dad died and I know it!"
The hand started to move, but it still remained.
"Listen, 'Jokes are cruel, you're heartless. And everyone leaves you alone.' Nothing left." she repeated her friends words.
"Just look." the voice says to her.
"I don't want to look at someone who has to sink so low." she continued crying.
The hand left, for good.
The dark came, evil thoughts in it's head.
"Die..." a different voice whispered in her ear.
She cried, nodded her head in time with her falling tears.
She waited until the house was silient.
She didn't know what to do, but she knew she had to.
She grabbed her mother's brandy, and sleeping pills.
"At least I know this way..." she thought to herself.
She took four sleeping pills, and drank half of the bitter liquid.
She waited, just to go under.
Dancing images started to appear, she knew she was close now.
She saw her father. "Dad....?" she reached her hand out.
She was to weak to continue, and dropped her hand.
"I-I-I'm co-co-coming...I-I p-p-promise..." she stuttered witht the last of her strength.
"I-I-I promi-ise...W-we can be t-t-together a-again...like old t-t-times."
She closed her eyes, she was tired.
She was going under faster now, and she was letting herself.
Her father saw what she did, he knew what to do.
He lit a match with the last of his strength, and lit the den on fire.
The fire alarm went off. He went to her room.
"I'm sorry, you need to live." he said, kissed her forehead.
He went where spirits go...and now she really was alone.
The fire trucks, police, and ambulances arrived.
Everyone but the girl was out the house, her mother cried.
They went in and looked for her, they found her brandy in one hand.
She was carried out the house, unconcious and dieing....
She was rushed to the hospital, everyone hoping it wasn't to late.
It went on the news, and her picture appeared, half-dead the doctors said.
People cried, people who knew her and didn't.
People prayed, people forgave, people became people.
Her mother remained at the bedside.
She stirred, the mother hoped she was awake now.
She's been asleep for several weeks, in a coma they said.
Her father where the spirits were, watching her.
He knew she would live, unless her spirit flashed there.
He went to the welcoming grounds, saw her face appear and disappear.
He sighed, his daughter had to live.
With what was left of him, he went to her.
Held her hand, and let his strength enter her body.
He let himself be completely gone, no spirit...
All for this stupid girl...she turned her head.
Found the strength to open her eyes.
Her father's spirit entering her body, she made it stop.
She woke up completely, stared around.
"Am I dead?..." she placed her hand on her heart, still beating.
The doctor came in, shocked.
Her mother woke up and saw, speechless.
"It's just me..." she whispered, so they could hear.
The doctor checked her vitals, she was fine.
She talked to a therapist, she told everything.
To therapy she had to go, she didn't mind.
She was so much stronger now, she touched her heart.
Part of her father's spirit inside her, she knew she needed to live.
Not for herself, for her father.
She smiled to herself, just for her.
She looked at the sky, and saw a shooting star.
"I wish Dad...no, I wish I can be happy." she walked away.
Her dad on a rooftop smiled, for now he carried part of her...
