My brothers time in bootcamp
Day 1 - dislocated his shoulder
Rifle qualification - Received a metal for sharpshooter, his DS said he "would be proud to share a fox hole with him" when he pinned his medal on to his ACU. Can shoot a bulls eye from 300 meters.
Grenade qualification - Received a metal for expert. Been blowing things up with C4.
They train monday to saturday from 5am to 7:45pm. Sundays are for cleaning the barracks and church if you want to go. They have every type of church you can imagine on the base and he has been going to a different one each Sunday.
Passed obstacle courses, passed bayonet, has been smoked many times (you can see what getting smoked is like on u-tube), has been thru the gas chamber. Was ambushed during a 3 day outing with gas bombs. Dislocated his shoulder again, he was able to call me last week and tell me what happened. Dont know any more but as of then they were looking at discharging him for medical. His final PT test was last Saturday and my guess is that if he passed they would keep him and since i havent heard i guess he will graduate boot camp on Friday and get his beret. Boot camp graduation is not open for familes, since it is a OUST unit. We are going up when he graduates AIT school on 12/19. Then he comes home for a month.
