Poem for Jacob. o-o
Hiding Behind the Sunlight
On the cake,
the candles read eight.
The flames die out,
and whats left is a smile.
Time is sand falling in a hourglass,
Winter turns to spring.
An excuse made its way to us,
"School is so far away."
In the dark,
confusion filled my head.
Avoiding the dark,
I erased the thoughts,
filled with uncertainty.
The excuse disappeared,
as a demand appeared in the air.
"I think we should move."
Lies filled their mouths,
as I ignored them
completely
Not knowing what to do
I didn't agree or disagree
for I had no place to say,
"I wish to stay."
A caged bird wanting to see the light,
filled with unending happiness.
The light hid behind the clouds.
We packed our things away.
I gaze at them with no motive hidden in the gaze.
The engine started to run
and I headed towards the sound.
Sleepy and tired
I closed my shut.
The sun hid behind the clouds
and the car stopped.
Fluttering, my eyes open
the sun appears with a gift
Images of happy people flow through my mind.
A place where I can call home
I cannot lie
For a smile appeared.
The days that were long and boring
seemed endless.
Sad thoughts appear as cloud in a sky
The sun will appear when hope grows.
Step into the sunlight,
and a reward will appear,
a smile that will never lose its glorious shine.
