Chapter one Jasmine looked around the courtyard of her dorm. She stood outside and breathed hard. With her short black hair she still looked like a girl, but not as much as before. Her blue eyes showed how scared she was. She was hoping she could pull this off for herself and her sister. She walked in side and spoke her new alias. "Hello… I’m Ryan,” she said in a husky high-pitched voice. “I’m the transfer student…." The dorm leader was reading a book, and without looking at Jasmine, he spoke. "Hello, Ryan… room 167, fourth floor… You’ll be sharing with Zack and Jake… the door is un-" He then looked up at her and was speechless for a moment. "Uh, um, your door is unlocked." She became aware how surprised he looked and became frightened, thinking he figured her out already so she said, "Sir, what’s wrong? "Oh, nothing it’s just you’re not going to last a day with Zack or Jake— those guys are pretty big and scary— you’re tiny, but don’t worry, sport." She grabbed her suitcase and book bag. Going up the four flights of stairs, she walked slowly and looked at the place she would be living in for a while. She got to her door, knocked on it, and started to open it, and then a really scary, freaky, smelly man came out. "Move it, kid I gotta drag this bum to track," the man said, pulling a tall, about 5'10”, buff, blonde-hair, blue-eyed, handsome boy out of the room by his ear. "Awh, c'mon coach! I’m sick!" He pleaded with a fake cough. "C'mon, let me stay!" "Do I look stupid to you, Zack?! You gotta be in shape for the next meet, so be quiet and come along." She stood there watching them walk. Zack turned to the coach and began to run away from him. She smiled and shook her head, not taking notice that her other roommate came out and was standing next to her. She turned, bumping right into him. "Sorry, sorry…." She said, backing up from him. He had long-ish brown hair; his lip was pierced, and he was as tall as Zack— almost taller. Her eyes grew big. "Oh, it’s okay; you must be Ryan, our new roommate. Come on in." As he turned and walked in, she followed and saw how big their room was, and noticed the bunk bed. "That’s where me and Zack sleep. I’m on bottom, he’s on top, so if you need someone at night go to the bottom— Zack wouldn’t wake up if his own mother was here screaming at him." He smiled at her. He pointed to stairs that lead to a flat floor. "Your bed is up there; we have the biggest room in the dorm because we’re on the same floor as the seniors. The bathroom is on your level. See that glass door? That’s it, we all eat in the main hall," he said slowly and she picked up her suitcase. She walked to see the rest of her boxes and a twin bed. She set her suitcase down and glanced at him. "This should be a very interesting year, don’t you agree?" she asked. "Very much, but I think I should warn you of Zack." "What’s wrong with him?" "If you bring a girl around, he’ll hit on her— he’s very much of a horn dog— goes after every and any girl." Her eyes widened and she thought, ‘I hope he doesn’t find out and hurt me….’ "But besides that, he’s a very good student. His mother is the dean, he’s an A student, runs track, and plays basketball." All she heard was “his mother was the dean” and she thought, ‘Oh my god, of all the people… I share a room with the dean’s son…." She looked out the window above her bed and saw a tree branch. "I have to do this for Kimmberly… I have to." She looked at her room mate. "What is it?" "I’m sorry, but I heard before you were a scholarship student for grades and a sport. What’s the sport?" She sighed. "Soccer and yes, I’m one of the top ten students in the country." She sat down on her bed and heard a knock on the door "Coming, hold up." Jake said running to the door. Jasmine stood up and looked over the rail and saw another boy. "Dude, I heard the new transfer is here." "Hello?" She said. The boy looked up. He had amused hazel eyes and a pleasant face. He waved. "Yo, I’m Jeffy," he said quickly and turned to Jake. "We got dinner soon so you guys better hurry up before dinner’s gone." Jasmine took a deep breath. This would be her first time eating food with people at this school… her first time meeting them all. She cracked her fingers and neck, getting ready for something to happen. Jake looked at her. "C'mon girly-man, time for dinner!" She stared at him and kicked his shin. "Not a girl!" "Damn, I’m sorry, I was joking, c'mon!" So they walked out to the dinning room for the first time Jasmine walked down the stairs and opened her mouth in awe.
