Oh the madness you assume I have
Consumes me? Nay, Sharpens me!
It was the eye! The eye that brought me to this madness!
Disease you say; blessing says I.
Every night, the eye, Oh that dreadful eye!
I would shine a slit to see the evil,
That vulturous sphere of blue; clouded by darkness!
On the eighth night...it happened.
Cautiously, Oh how cautious I was!
But...I was almost discovered! I was encased in ice!
A groan of mortal terror chilled my blood!
Then...then the hideous eye! shone in the light!
That eye...that dreadful dull eye!
Then, on account of this "madness,"
I could hear terror itself, his heart crying for help!
Faster! The terror is immense!
Faster!
Faster!
LOUDER!!!
Even Faster! NO LONGER!!!
A single leap, a flip of the bed, and finally peace.
Slower......s l o w e r.........s l o w e r.....gone.
The deed was done. No longer would the eye haunt me.
The body. Oh let me tell you what I did!
The head first, then the arms and the legs.
Oh how calmly and carefully i did this!
Ha! Three planks was all it took.
Officers came, how calm I was once more.
You should have seen! I sat over my "triumph."
But no....No....NO!!! It can not be!
Pale I grow...
NO.....Agitated I become...NO....
NO!!! Impossible!
That sound...that dreadful sound!....His sound!
His heart! It beats once more!
Louder!
Faster!
Louder!!!
"No more! The deed is mine! Here! Under the planks
Lies him and his hideously beating heart!"
