* We lost in Maine, won in Washington. Yes, I'm still furious that we are putting whether or not some people in this country get full citizen rights up to popular vote. The interesting thing about the Maine results is, despite Maine being way more rural and Catholic than California, the margin was about the same as California. As horrible as it is that civil rights just got stripped from a portion of the population, there is reason for hope in the long run if a state like Maine is where California was a year ago, if that makes sense.
* I'm never seen a school that teaches straight marriage, so why this fear that schools would teach gay marriage? what does teaching marriage even mean? what would the curriculum look like? My state doesn't even teach real sex ed thanks to abstinence only, so I genuinely have no clue what the anti-civil rights folks are even talking about. Seriously, we can't even mention condoms. What exactly are they thinking we'll be teaching?
