I have a soft spot for Ewan McGregor. He seems to pick roles as much for their interest to him as for any other reason, and there is a sort of abandon with which he throws himself into roles that charms me. My favorite bit of his acting is at almost the end of Velvet Goldmine when his face is so full of words unspoken and speaks more profoundly than words ever could of love and loss and knowledge and pain and aging and dreams let go. In the space of seconds he captures all of the things the film was about with a simple glance at Mr. Bales character before he walks out the door. It blows me away every time.
