I walk along the steady stream,
As a leaf falls in the late Fall breeze.
I stop and stare to pick it up,
But am paused from a sudden sneaze.
I laugh at myself from my sudden clumsiness,
And continue down the narrow path.
I feel content in the evening night,
For the weather had no intended wrath.
The stars shine out to greet me gaily,
But I did not greet them so warmly.
For as the stars shone down their light,
I seemed to give them a little fright.
Blood was dripping here and there
From the tips of my toes to my dark matted hair.
But I, it seemed had no concern,
Walking the earth with cuts and burns.
My mind was clear, no mention of pain.
But I knew that I was going insane.
For as that last drop fell from my lips,
I caught it on my fingertips.
