The tree outside my window, an old maple, is very colourful right now. There is much red mixed in with the green leaves. It reminds me of a barrel of apples.
Another tree, across the road, is still mostly green but the very top leaves have turned a firey orange. Actually when i look at it now it looks like the other branches have been dusted with gold powder.
All of the trees outside my windows are touched with autumn's talented brush. i get to watch this painting unfold before my eyes. Day after day another stroke of the brush; perhaps today add another colour from the palette. A masterpiece painted once a year by nature.
Wow it really is lush and colourful out there right now. The sun is going down. Has mostly gone down but there's still that almost surreal dusklight.
But winter looms ever closer. i have my toque on my head in preperation. To get used to wearing it for the rest of the year. i'm jonsing for a dart.
This isn't the trees outside my window. But they are trees just around the corner.
