The universe is made up of matter, time, and space. These things are relevant to each other, and depend on each other. They are not immortal, and therefore end, which also means they began at some point. Logic states that things that have a beginning had to be created by something before it. Like parents create a child. But if matter, time, and space make up the universe, then what could have created it? Well, something that exists beyond matter, time, and space of course. Now who could be wise and powerful enough to think up such creations? God.
When you want a sandwhich does it create itself out of nothing? NO. And if you want a universe, does it create itself from nothing. (Atheism) NO. It is simply illogical. To obtain a sandwhich one must gather the pieces and organize them. Please take note of the fact that SOMEONE had to create the "sandwhich" and organize it how he wished.
