“Hey Chouko-chan, are you mad at me for not telling you?” Takami whimpered. But Chouko didn’t answer him, instead she looked straight ahead into the trees lost in thought with a blank face. Takami pouted and said, “I was going to tell you, but I was too week to even transform into my regular form.” Takami stared into Chouko’s blank expression getting closer and closer to her face. But then he heard a stomach grumble. His eye twitched and he backed up. “Ah, I’m hungry.” Chouko said as she got up. She looked around as if she was a bear searching for berries. Takami looked at her entertained by her actions. Her eyes drifted side to side and they turned directly right at Takami. Takami blushed and looked away. “Takami, do you have any food I can eat?” Chouko asked as she walked over to his side. “Well I think I can get some fish and-” Takami said before his stomach growled. Chouko giggled and said, “If you can take me back to the village, I can cook something for us. But you’re going to have to transform back into a fox again.” She cupped his face in her hands and continued, “I know you’re not evil, but the people of the village are very superstitious.” Takami blushed as he she kept holding his face and staring into his eyes. He pulled away and picked up Chouko. “Ok let’s go then! I can’t wait to taste you cooking when we get there!” Takami said happily.


Takami ran fast through the hills and trees once again with his non-human strength. He came to a stop when he was a few miles away from the shrine. Then he transformed back into the cuddly and cute fox. Chouko suddenly sat down and hugged Takami to death. “Your fox appearance is so cute!” Chouko said as she held blushing Takami close, “I’m sorry Takami, I can’t help it! You are so cute!” Then she put Takami down and stood up. “Then shall we go?” Chouko said to Takami. Takami stood there, his heart beating rapidly. “S-she called me cute!” Takami thought over and over. Then he shook his head and trotted along to her side.


Chouko and Takami reached the shrine while the sun was still high. Chouko went in preparing to cook, while Takami stayed outside and walked around in the garden for awhile. He marveled at the beauty of the flowers as he went past them. He kept walking until he reached the koi fish pond. Takami splashed the water with his paw whenever a fish went near him. “Having fun with the fish Takami nii-chan?” a voice behind him said. He turned around and transformed back into human. “Airi! What are you doing here? You’ll get caught by one of the humans!” Takami yelled at Airi. “Shouldn’t I be asking the same thing?” Airi smiled playfully. “Well anyway,” she continued, “You can’t stay here for long. I can’t keep telling the head of the main house lies! The main house will get suspicious and will start a riot trying to look for you!” Frustrated Takami answered, “What is the point anyway? I’m just a half demon.” “But you’re the grandson of the head of the main house! You can’t just-” Airi stopped mid sentence and turned around. “Crap! I smell a human! Well Takami nii-chan, it’s your choice. Leave now and you can be forgiven, or stay here and feel the fury of your grandfather.” Airi said quickly as she ran away into the shadows. Takami transformed back into a fox and saw that the human was Chouko calling him for dinner. “Are you ok Takami? I called your name many times, and yet you didn’t answer. Did something happen?” Chouko asked worried. “No, it’s nothing. Let’s go eat! I’m starving!” Takami quickly answered. As they both walked back, Takami felt the guilt creeping into his heart.
