I had my fireworks ready to go. I started off with the firecrackers (Light and throw on the ground, goes pop), then I advanced to sparkling fireball shooting ones. Which reminds me, fireworks these days suck, they don't last as long as they used to. Then I moved on to bottlerockets.
This is where the war part comes in. You think me and my family and friends started shooting them at each other. Nope, that's far from the truth.
Me and my family were shooting them as directed. They were going everywhere. We begin hearing somebody saying something loudly, but we were unable to understand what the voice was saying. So we keep shooting. Again, we hear the voice, this time we could hear what it was saying. "No more bottlerockets!" the voice was saying from a few houses down.
I suspected the lady who was yelling this meant for us to quit shooting them in the air for risk of them flying in her direction. So we started shooting them into a hole in my yard. They were staying put, not going anywhere but in the hole. Then we hear a voice "I said, no more bottlerockets". We were confused. There was no risk of them going anywhere toward anyone's house. What was her deal?
I ask "I'm sorry, did one land in your yard?" She answered "No, just don't shoot bottlerockets in case that does happen".
I asked her if we could shoot them into an open field next to my house that my family owned. Apparently, it was not ok for us to shoot them anywhere because she didn't want them to come her way.
So I begin shooting them into the field anyways. I knew there was no risk of them hitting anywhere near her house or mine. She begins screaming at me for this simple, safe act. I turn around and say "Lady, I know what I'm doing, you don't have to worry about them coming in your yard". In which she replies "I'm calling the police, you're putting me in danger".
About fifteen minutes later, the police roll up to my house. The officer asked me why I was shooting bottlerockets at my neighbor's house. With a very confused look on my face I told him that none have even flown in the direction of her house, that we were shooting them purposefully away from her house.
The cop seemed satisfied, wrote his report, and told my neighbor that if we started shooting them at her house, call them. He said he didn't want to come back out for no reason.
Anyways, to make a long story.....end. She had a party today and told her friends to park in my yard if there was no room in hers. This stems I guess from the previous days bickering. I say she told them to park in my yard because she had like seven or eight people's cars outside, enough room for all of them, yet some were parked in my flowers and small shrubs (Which destroyed half of them). So, by the end of the night, five cars were towed, over $500 in fines per person was levied against them, and over $1000 in fines was given to my neighbor.
In the end, does it seem worth it to mess with somebody because you're mean and don't like your neighbors? She learned her lesson....hopefully. I now feel like I have accomplished something. What started as a bad Fourth of July, ended with satisfaction. I laugh everytime I see my neighbor outside. Which is rare because she has started trying to get in her house before I get out of mine to smoke.
Oh well, we'll see what happens next major holiday xd
