"So...where did you find him?" A voice within the darkness boomed, it sounded like whosoever voice it was, they were at least in their late 40's "He was in the city core..." Another voice replied, this voice was obviously of that a small child's "Why were you in the city core? You know you're not suppose to be there!" The older voice raged "But then again, you did save this young man." The voice added as there was small sniffles that could be heard "I...I'm sorry. I won't go there alone again" The child said apologetically "Alright...I'm just glad you're safe" The older voice said as Leon groaned and started to wake up.

"Hey! he's awake!" The child said as he ran over to Leon "You shouldn't move much" The child said to him. Leon sat up and looked over to the child and then to the man who was standing not too far from the door. The room was quite empty except for the bed that Leon was lying on, a worn out chair and table. The Light was dangling on what it seemed to it's last strand but there was a few candles lit to keep the room illuminated "Hello, My name is Gus" The older man spoke "My little friend here found you in the city core heavily wounded" Gus said as he motioned over to the child "Wait...you're telling me that this..kid carried me here by himself?" Leon asked as he looked over to the child "Yup" The child replied with a nod.

Leon still didn't believe the child so he looked back over to Gus "Where am I?" Leon asked "You are in one of Genesis' bases" Gus replied but quickly knew that Leon had no idea of what Genesis is by Leon confused look "Do you anything that is happening right now? or what has happened?" Gus asked Leon "No I don't, all I know is that this city is not safe and I need to get out" Leon said as he stood up but quickly lost his balance and fell back down onto the bed "Take it easy, you'll hurt yourself" Gus said as he helped Leon stand up "What is going on then since you seem to know so much" Leon said in a demanding tone.

Gus looked over to the child and nodded, the child exited the room as Gus began to explain "A while ago, a virus was released within the city. You may remember some news reports on a sudden outbreak" Gus said, Leon nodded "I do remember...but what does that have to with now?" Leon asked "Well, this virus caused everyone who was infected to gain super-natural powers...but not everyone was able to achieve that" Gus said as he held out his hand and a ball of flame encased his entire hand "Most people gained only one ability, some gained two or even three" Gus added "Wait...WHAT!?" Leon yelled as he saw the flame appear "You mean...this virus cause all this!?" Leon said, he was frozen in shock and awe "Well, in a sense. Yes. But this caused a war to break out." Gus responded "Over time the Government had quarantined us to stop from this infection from spreading but the virus is long gone and now this war is the only thing left, our group in called Genesis." Gus said as he opened the door and led Leon through a small underground pathway into a larger room where a few people were walking around, talking and discussing things.

It looked like any other base, in the middle was a large table with a map. Gus led Leon over to the table "This is the map layout of the city" Gus said to him as he pointed out the different sections on the map "This here shows what areas we control, what areas that Shadow controls and where all the neutral areas are" Gus said as he pointed to each respective area on the map.

"So in the city core is a neutral area" Leon said, Gus nodded "Yes, you could have been attacked by anyone, or anything" Gus said as he had a serious look on his face as he looked over to Leon "What are you going to do? We need as many as we can get to win this war" Gus said boldly "Are you going to help us?" he asked

Leon looked around and over to the map and noticed that Genesis was on the losing end of this war. He took a deep breath as he looked over to Gus "I will, for now" Leon said "I want to learn more but I know I can't do this alone. I'll stick around for now" Leon added.

Gus nodded "Very well...rest up for now, you still need to recover fully before we can put you to use" Gus said as he turned his back to Leon "I have a feeling that things will get a lot more interesting in the future" He said as he walked away. Leon turned around and started to walk back to the room he woke up in "...Everyone has these abilities, but not me" Leon said quietly




Author's Comments: I really hate the beginning of any story or series, it's usually the most boring part because you gotta explain a lot of stuff that's currently going on. I'm actually trying to get this part of with as fast as possible without rushing too much or dragging it on forever
