I was rather worried about the Colbert/USO shows, because it's a careful balancing act between selling out/pandering and being obnoxious in what amounts to a charity gig. The first show was a little surreal and seemed "off." Tonight's was pretty cool though. I was impressed by how well the "Don't Ask/Don't Tell segment seemed to go over with the audience. Also, that Tariq guy was smoking hot in the interview segment. It was cool just generally to see an Arab American soldier and a woman with the combat badge getting spotlight time. I think Colbert's getting used to the very different timing involved in handling the much larger audience, which was part of what made the Monday show more sluggish.
