Her father and brother had both been recruited into the militia, and had not been heard from since. After a few months in, her mother left her and her sister alone to go and serve as a nurse on the war front.
A few weeks after that, the letter came that their mother had been killed by one of the experiments on the war front. She and her sister lived on their own, for a while. But then the battles reached them, and their own home went down in flames. The sisters were seperated, and Jes is still trying to find her, scrouging to survive.
