Q: What is this film about?
A: This is a story of a man (Ryo/ Ryosuke Ishigami) seeking false revenge on a creature (Bagi) he believes has slayed his mother. Through constant flash back of his teenage year it is explained that the man and the creature knew each other, and were great friends. The creature, Bagi, always showing her affection (love) for Ryo. Stumbling on his (Ryo's) dead mother moments before seeing Bagi running away - Ryo concludes she betrayed him (because he believes she killed his mother).
Q: Five out of Five stars is the max rating. What would you give this film?
A: Tough choice. The quality of this movie is superb for the time era it was released in (which was 1984). Placing a specific thing about this film is hard for me, and that is how I typical rate a film. The storyline in a few places could have been better explained, but overall the storyline was interesting. I mean come on a genetically modified humanoid feline is always cool (lol). Seriously though....I would have to give this film ' four and a half ' stars due to the quality it held when it was presented, the enjoyable storyline, and its ability to effect myself (and I'm sure you as well) in a heart filled.....sad way.
Q: Likes or Dislikes about the film?
A: Well...personally I didn't like the end. I think Bagi should have been reunited with Ryo in a much more ' lovable fashion '. Even Ryo in the film wonders why she said nothing, and allowed him to go on. Now of course I understand that Bagi by the end of the film had little if no human traits left (a side from her appearance - she was unable to speak). Basically the end of the film is her escaping off into the mountain with Ryo happily hoping the best for her. Well time to contradict myself....the ending was great I just didn't like it because it made me really sad which is a hard thing to do. The ending for the most part was well thought, and it was one of the better scenarios out of numerous ones that could have worked.
Q: What would you rate this movie? As in age restrictions.
A: I would rate this film PG-13. Because of violence. Yes just for violence everything else in the movie is durable - it doesn't show other ' things ' that otherwise would make me conclude a higher age restriction.
