"Up you go!" Jesse's voice is far too enthusiastic for Amartheo's tastes and he let's out a hiss of breath as he finds himself on the incubus's shoulders. His legs are dangling and one of Jesse's hands closes around his ankle as if to steady him. Amartheo's tempted to grab onto the incubus's horns simply because of the ridiculous situation.

"... remind me again why I let you travel with me?" Amartheo's voice is bitter and he can see the feigned look of hurt on Jesse's face even before he speaks.

"Keep saying things like that," there was a dramatic sniff, "and I'll think you don't love me anymore." Jesse's arms finally wrap around his legs and the incubus starts to walk forward and Amartheo just lets out a sigh, finally giving into the urge that he had. His fingers close around the other's horns and he holds onto them for some form of leverage as he's being carted off by the incubus.

"Hurry it up, horse," he says dryly and inwardly smirks when Jesse stops and twists his head around to give him a look that says he might be later regretting that statement.

"See, now, it's statements like those that make me wonder why I travel with you." But Jesse turns his head back around and Amartheo gets as comfortable as he can get being carried piggy back and they still travel together. It's just one of those things that doesn't all ways makes sense, but seems perfect in it's dysfunction.

It's when they're pressed back to back and surrounded by nothing but enemies that want nothing to see them dead that he realizes he can truly trust Jesse. It's when he sees that glint in Jesse's eye and look on his face that he all most pities the enemy.

And then they both move at the same time, striking out, and he finds out that no, he didn't really. They were trying to kill them after all.

"Hey! May I remind you that I was the one that saved your a** when we were fighting that ferocious beast?"

"... may I remind you that you're the reason we had to fight the damn thing in the first place? YOU WOKE IT UP."

"Stop trying to change the subject, I SAVED YOU."

"... fine. You saved me. Thanks."

"..."

"What is it now? What's with that look on your face?"

"You thanked me."

"It's not like it's a big deal."

"No, but you meant it."

"Begrudgingly."

"STILL. You meant it! You do like me!"

"... about as much as a I like a thorn in my side. Can we please get a move on. I think that beast had relatives and they might be out for us."
