Holly's Adventures in Gaialand.
Just random stuff, possibly rants, probably uninteresting.
Dunes-lame Dune-slammed Dune-Slaughtered!
So yeah, I'm pretty pleased actually, considering this is my fourteenth day here in the land of Gaia...

All excited and with no one to tell T-T

After becoming horribly addicted to zomg, two weeks ago, and having a whale of a time ploughing through quests... I finally got up to the dreaded duneslam yesterday, having heard how difficult it was to beat, I thought my best bet was to go in with a crew, wow, how wrong was that theory? Having failed repeatedly in epic ways with both small and large crews, I decided to find out a bit about this newly found arch nemesis of mine and researched a little bit about it on the forums.

Immediately I got the picture that the main contention of everyone who'd beat it was, that going in with any crew at all was a complete waste of time and made the monster exponentially more difficult to beat than when facing him alone.

So, today *giggles with glee* I set my mind to the task of overcoming this sandy goliath, having decided on ranged attacks, a heal and a speed boost, I wound up going in wearing:
coyote spirit,
bandage,
diagnose,
solar rays,
guns guns guns,
shark attack,
duct tape and
heavy water balloon...

I was so thrilled when I managed to whittle the boss down little by little by running and shooting periodically, to conserve stamina... Only to have my dreams crushed by becoming dazed mere milimetres away from getting the cretin's red health bar to go down completely.

So I changed tactic, swapped out the duct tape (which I found to be completey useless for subduing even the early golems), and heavy water balloon for: slash and hack... which I used during the early waves of monsters to efficiently defeat wave by wave so I could rest in between... I also applied a ring buffer which I still had left from the starting area, and salvaged some rings to put more oomph into the rings I had chosen.

After what felt like hours of running around in circles and periodically shooting the duneslam, at last he fell. Well, happiness such I have never experienced before lol.

Duney was one of the few bosses I've encountered so far, who, in my opinion, after having defeated him, you really were left with the sense that you'd accomplished something, even if he only dropped ten measly orbs for your effort. (Hey Jacques gives you some too as far as I can remember, lol, I was so hazed with glee that I can't actually remember now whether he did or not.)

I'm guessing the reward would have been larger with a big crew, but meh, who needs three hours of constant, mind numbing getting dazed by forty golems at once, when you could knock out the boss in twenty minutes on your own and move on to something else?

What I want to know now is, has anyone ever managed to take him down with a large crew? And if so, what was the reward? I mean, I just want to know if the reward is worth the constant repetitive misery lol. Seriously unless he poops like 80 or more orbs, it can't be worth it.
