Why I love anime characters
Unhealthily so, I might add, hehe.
Well, the first anime I watched that I can remember was Saint Seiya. I think I must have been around 5 years old at the time. I loved it so much... still do, really, and I have the video cassettes to prove it!!
My favourite character there was - is - Aiolia, the Leo Gold Saint. It's probably a weird thing to say (especially since this anime was all about fighting), but I have no doubts that he helped shape me into the person I am today. Kind of like my "anime dad", hehe.
He was only a secondary character, but he was everything I thought a person should be. He became my role model then, and I'm sure it was him who taught me loyalty.
I hear a lot of people point this or that historical figure as their role model - Gandhi, da Vinci, Churchill... I'll usually keep quiet at this point, because I feel embarrassed that mine are fictional characters from cartoons. But at the same time, I could never accept a real person as the example I should strive to follow.
People are stupid and flawed and unreliable. Fictional characters are free to be the way they're supposed to be - they're closest to perfection than any real person I know of. Besides, with a fictional character, you have the privilege of knowing everything there is to know about them - with real people, who knows what goes on inside their heads?
Hehe, I'm sort of wondering now... Minato reminds me a lot of Aiolia. Elektra complex much?... rofl
