Appearance: Shorter than most humans, faeries are never taller than five and a half feet. Usually have unruly hair and dress in whatever they've happened to have stolen from travelers, or whatever they've thrown together from their forest supplies. Skin, eyes, and hair come in human tones, although eyes are described to have a "more feral look" than human eyes, and ears are pointed. Many faeries decorate their bodies with markings such as stripes or random designs. Slender and lithe bodies, faeries typically appear as adolescent in age, although they sometimes use glammer to make themselves appear as old men and women, young children, or whatever person they happen to be impersonating. Faeries cannot grow facial hair, unless it is part of their "glammer". If you see a faerie with a mustache, it is either a joke, or could possibly be a changeling adoptee.
Society: Faeries live in the forests and other wilderness places, often alone, or usually in small, roving bands or about twenty. Class structure is haphazard at best, although a more powerful fairy will designate themselves "Queen/King of the Wood", it is not certain whether this royal title is just another joke being played on a visitor. Faeries are capricious, mischievious, unpredictable, fickle, often spiteful and bad-tempered. "Dark Faeries" are those who tend towards cruelty and malice, while "Light Faeries" enjoy exacting "justice" against the wicked and proud. It is unclear whether faeries have children, as they are said to typically expand their numbers by abducting babies and young children. ("Light Faeries" will only take a child into their numbers who is already orphaned) Sometimes the "changeling" returns to human society having gained an "odd" appearance (they take on the short, slender form of their faerie family, have extremely extended life spans and for some reason tend to have grey or white hair) after differing intervals of time (from a few days to many centuries) and sometimes they remain with their adopted faerie family. Changelings usually gain a "connection to the etheric realm" or in plainer speak, magical abilities.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Elves are not Faeries. Faeries are not Elves. Although both races have slanted ears, elves despise faeries as being frivolous, undisciplined, especially with their magical powers.
