I'm reading Marked as it was recommended. Alas, the dialog does not sound like any teenagers I've ever taught would be speaking it. So far, it compares unfavorably to Generation Dead, which is way better written and more politically relevant. In fact, as I'm reading I keep thinking of how much better Generation Dead and/or the Vampire Academy Series handled that situation, which is sad, really. It's readable, but it suffers from more than a little Mary sue. I'd still hand it to a teenage girl instead of Twilight any day. I know i don't teach any more, but I still know lots of people with kids and I like to be able to talk books with children in social situations if necessary and to make informed suggestions to adults when asked.
