”Alina said just come to Earth and take her with us back to Sanix.” Ardea grumbled. “So let’s do that already.”
“Ardea, we can’t just kidnap her in front of her family.” Gaea sighed.
“T-Take me back where?” I asked, backing away. “What are you guys talking about?”
“Why not?” she grunted. “Alina did that to you.”
“Yea, but she explained the case later-”
“So we’ll explain it to them later.” Ardea declared. “Come on.”
“Ardea.” Gaea said warningly. “We are not going back and forth and back and forth like a dog about to use the washroom. We’re going to be smart, reserve our powers, and explain everything here.”
She rolled her eyes but said nothing more.
Gaea slowly walked to me but I backed away again. “W-What do you want from me?” I asked.
Then someone touched my shoulder gently. I inhaled sharply and turned around, only to see the girl Naida with another smile just for me.
“We’re not here to hurt you, believe me.” She said. “We just need to talk for a bit.”
Then a shooting pain went through my shoulder and I screamed. Naida backed away.
The burglar shot me in the shoulder. Then he reached for my neck and held me in the air. I clawed his hand but it was useless. I thought my lung was going to burst inside me and my shoulder would break off any moment now.
“Now, all of you.” He hissed. “Bring me anything you’ve got and I’ll let the girl live. Come closer and I’ll kill her.”
I coughed, and I thought this was my end. But then I heard barks of dogs. And growls. Then next thing I knew, the Greg person screamed with pain and let me go, letting me fall to the ground, hitting my injured shoulder onto the hard ground. I would’ve screamed, but it hurt so much, it was too unrealistic and it was a bit funny in a really twisted kind of way. I watched with amazement, forgetting my pain on the shoulder for a second, as he battled with Winnie and other stray dogs.
In the end, the burglars ran away, and nobody cared to chase after them. Danny and Danielle came into my arms, crying for me.
“Waaah, Sky!” Danny cried.
“We thought- We thought-” Danielle broke off into a sob.
I winced with the shooting pain through my shoulder blade. “Hey, hey.” I patted them on the back awkwardly with my left arm, moving with effort. “It’s okay. I’m okay. Winnie and his friends protected me.”
“You’re shot!” Naida exclaimed with horror.
I didn’t know how to reply to that, so I just nodded.
She knelt beside me in a hurry and was about to place her hands on the injury when I pulled away.
“What are you doing?” I asked. “What are you trying to do?”
“Ed, call 911!” my mom shrieked. “Oh, my poor poor baby-”
“There’s no need.” Gaea said calmly.
“What are you saying?!” she shrieked again. “She was shot!”
“Just watch.”
“Watch wha-”
Without hesitation, Naida placed her hands just above my shoulder, but didn’t actually touch my wound, and breathed in deeply and all of a sudden, some kind of water formed inside her palms and took the bullet out with ease.
I watched half horrified, half amazed. Then the pain slowly went away. But it was a weird feeling, my wound closing up like that. Like something crawled under my skin and laid eggs to fill out my flesh.
I know, gross.
