Piper is Ayda's puppet. And even though she has a mind of her own, Ayda can control her movements and everything she does. Though she can not control Piper's thoughts.
Piper has always fought against Ayda for her own freedom. Even though she doesn't know what would happen if she did get free.
How these two came together is that Ayda had summoned a great demon to come and protect her since her body was always very weak, and she was hunted by many because of her history. But when the demon showed, it was none other than Piper. When Ayda saw this, she cast a spell on her while she was weak from the summoning, and made her, her puppet.
Now bound to Ayda, Piper searches for her freedom, and anyone who could possibly set her free, since Ayda's magic is extremely advanced. She is allowed to wander away from Ayda, but when she is needed, she'll be pulled from where she is and dropped next to Ayda, probably taking whatever damage Ayda had.
