I think it's great that Gaia has a place you can submit your writing. It's awesome. heart However, I do have one little beef with it.
I know that they don't want entries being so long that people have to scroll a LOT to get to the end; but it would be nice if it was more than 500 words. I have a novella-maybe 19-ish pages typed-and I just had to keep cutting paragraph after paragraph out. Until there was almost nothing for just ONE 'chapter'. 2,000 words would be nice. I mean, readers understand, right? (I hope)
I'm a reader, and I hate when chapters are like two pages long, I love it when they're not like five short paragraphs. I couldn't even put half of my 'real' first chapter on Gaia at one time because it was too 'long' though in reality it probably wouldn't make up three pages in book form (unfortunately ... though with a novella I suppose chapters can be much shorter).
I really don't think it makes me a 'wordsmith' either. 500 words really isn't a lot (unless you're writing an essay xd )
So I was kind of 'the heck with it'. I love writing, love love love LOVE it, but I'm not going to spend two hours checking on microsoft word to make sure I have exactly 500 words every time; and then spend two more hours submitting and editing it and have like 50 chapters (though as I said I love lots of chapters). :/ 10 would be nice.
