My Thanks Giving Journey
It was a nice and dry day for us in the California desert. I was at my grandma’s house for Thanks Giving and tomorrow was the day so, I woke up early in the morning to help my grandma cook for the big feast. All my family was going to be there but now it was only my grandma, me and the kitchen.
I ran to grandma reporting for duty, and she gave what I expected, a list. On this list are many unusual items to make recipes only my family eats or understands. I set of on my journey, grabbing my helmet and bike on the way out. The first on the list was poison cactus spikes! I knew were to go, I put on my helmet, got on my bike and started roaming on the dirt trails outside. Outside was hot and dry. It was very beautiful too, with the lime green flowers and the red earth that layed below me. I came to a stop in front of a purple cactus, and put on some heavy duty gloves because these were heavy duty spikes. I plucked each and every one off. Each one I plucked the cactus screamed and oozed out its milky blood. I put the poison spites in my brown backpack and looked at the list again. One down three to go.
Next on the list was hyena dung. I can’t believe I this but, it is good and good for you. I set of in another direction were a pack of hyenas normally sleep. When I got there, there was more then enough dung! It was everywhere, it was even in the tree top. I grabbed a plastic bag and picked up the fresh pile of dung sitting next to me and put it in my drown bag. I took out the list once more.
Next, it was ground water. I immediately look around for a flat stick. I found one next to the dirty tree and picked it up. I went to a clear area and stared to dig, it must have taken me a half of an hour to uncover the clear water underneath the layers of soil. I grabbed a bottle of water out of my bag and filled with the priceless water. After I put the bottle back into my gab I took a long smoothing drink and to my surprise it was very chilly. I took out the list one more time.
Next on this list is a cup full of snake venom! Not only was it hard to find a snake, but getting its venom is even harder. I grabbed things and rode off to find a snake full of luxurious venom. It was not as hard as I thought! There was a snake in the middle of the dirt path, so I snagged a plastic cup and a medal pole with a loop made out of rope at the end. I hoped off my bike, quickly gabbed the snake’s neck with the pole and grabbed its small yellow head hoped of in my hand. I opened its snapping jaw wide and drained its venom in the plastic cup. My task was finally finished!
I got on my bike once more and rode back to my grandma’s house. It was almost sundown but, I was already at her house. I got of my bike, opened the door and entered the big old house. I gave my grandma the ingredients and she told me to go away. I thought it was rude, but I can’t cook so I went to sit on the coach to read.
The next morning was Thanks Giving day and we were expecting a lot of company. One by one my of my family members arrived at the door, I greeted all of them and chatted while we were waiting. Finally the last of the family arrived and it was time to eat!
We all sat down around the tables outside and my grandma served the tables. I ate everything I could! I ate the spiky poison salad, the hyena dung pudding, the snake venom soap, and I even drank the smoothing ground water to drain it all down! Everyone loved it as much as I did.
