A Dream of Past
I stand on the broken, caved in porch
I look through the windows and knock twice on the door
I step inside, gazing at the walls
I notice the shattered glass, scattered about the tile
I look at the top of the staircase and spot a little girl; she smiles.
The door squeaks shut in the wind
The light dies down, fades black with a tint
I look back at the girl as she begins to cry
She stares at me, through blurry green eyes
I wonder what is going on
I blink once, twice, and then she's gone.
The door opens wide, and the light returns
My eyes grow wide, the suns smile burns
I step to left, and creep down the hallway
I look out through the glass, and watch as night
Attacks the day
The clouds turn ominous, literally black
The lightning soars and the thunder cracks
I reach the end, and come to a door
I open it carefully, and inside are four
Tables; on top, books of glass
Etched with difficulty, are those who will not last
I slam the books shut, and they shatter on impact
The glass turns red, and dissolves into nothing
The room explodes, yet my body stays intact
I’m now at a funeral, and am among the mourning
The room flashes bright, and the dead awakes
Its soul has passed, yet it can speak
It whispers to me, "Soon, soon, you too will be dead"
My heart beats fast, and I wake up in bed...
