TITLE: CYGNA PROGRESSION
DATE: DECEMBER '08
ABOUT: CYGNA'S GROWTH/PICTURES
NAME OF CREATOR: ME
"No, miss Luna, your NAME." My blue teddy bear reminded me with an I'm-tired-of-reminding-my-brainless-mistress sigh.
"Oops, I read that wrong. thanks, Lui! You're so smart!"
"It's not that I'm smart, it's called common sense, m'lady." he sighed once again.
"Cheep, cheep." The yellow blob named Chicky agreed, lying comfortably on Lui's cottony head.
"Hear, hear! Luna, no offense but you are quite dense." Mimzy told me with a sad shake of her head. I stuck out my tongue at her.
Chicky, Mimzy, Lui and I were inside our cellar, where all the electronics were located. Zachary, my angel imp, Fangy, and my new pet Wisp (See Fausto's Bottle) were all upstairs in the living room drinking tea with Cygna while I worked on his Progress Report. Of course, seeing how the three pets couldn't talk in human language, I probably should have left him with Lui and Mimzy instead.
"Shush, don't talk so loudly or else Cygna will hear us! This underground room wasn't built for secret operations, you know!!!" I hissed.
"Oh yes, I remember the construction crew leaving the house angrily because you were 10,000 gold short! Lui, didn't they stop layering the walls with bricks because of that?" Mimzy mused.
"Mm-hm, and they also left the ceiling thin. And no ventilation except for a few tunnels here and there. See, miss, I TOLD you not to buy that ridiculous item! I'm sure I told you it was a hoax!" the bear servant huffed indignantly.
"Sorry!! But it was so shiny and cool-looking, it HAD to be expensive, right?" I whined.
"It was a piece of GUM wrapped in FOIL. How much of a blockhead are you, miss????" he cried.
"Na-na-nah, I can't HEAR YOU! I'm WORKINGGG!!!" I screamed louder, covering my ears with both of my hands.
"you guys..." Mimzy hissed, but we kept hollering like nobody's business. "Guys...you're a bit..just a little..."
There was a creak as the basement door opened and a few clunks of familiar crutches, some muffled thumps of one cast, and scratches of talons on hard cement echoed through the dark room as Cygna came down with a one-eye wink and a smile. "You guys were pretty loud! Whatcha doing, mum?" he asked angelically. I saw his eyes flicker behind me to the computer screen for a fraction of a second. "I can barely make out my name there...and you've been restricting me from the basement today...and Zachary, Fangy and Wisp are all stammering... You're up to something, mum!"
Adoptive son he may be, Cygna could be angelic innocence half the time but could change into a devil just as quick. He caught me red-handed. "It WAS supposed to be a surprise, but...oh well. come look, Cygna!" The little boy limped over and took his seat next to me while I clicked a few things on the computer, opening up to a picture of me in a crazy Olympic frenzy, holding an antique-looking bottle in my hands.
"I do remember that picture, miss Luna! That was when you sold off so many things to get a hold of that Gimpi!" Lui exclaimed. "With the budget cut, we had weeks of hard times but you never noticed because you were too busy cuddling the eerie thing the whole time!"
"I was happy, k? But look, Cygna, see that weird liquid inside it?" I asked eagerly. He nodded and blinked a few times.
"So that was me? That's hard to believe!"
"It sure is! Now, next picture - oops." The next frame showed Lui and I moping and staring miserably at the shattered shards of the antique bottle and the wet stain around it.
"..." Cygna's eyes - or his one good eye - was practically bulging out of its socket.
"Aaaaand...Luna broke it. Of course. She was balancing it on her nose and it fell." Mimzy put in.
"Cheep."
"It wasn't my fault! Blame gravity!" In a hurry to get away from the depressing subject, I clicked for the next picture. This time, it showed a soggy-looking creature in the middle of the puddle that wasn't all angel imp, but wasn't all devil imp, either.
"This brings back old memories~ you were so CUTE back then, Cyggy dear! Not that you're not cute NOW! You're twice as cute as before!" I coo at the picture. Before Lui or Mimzy can reminisce about the time when I accidentally poked him in the eye and made him bite me, I change the picture again.
This time, the imp has grown into a biped creature with bandages around its head. Cygna in this picture is crying, being comforted by Lui.
"The young master was very sensitive in his younger years. Yes, yes, I remember that day as if it was yesterday..." the bear sighed longingly.
"I thought he cried because you tried to take his bandages off." Mimzy prodded. Lui flinched and jabbed at the keyboard for the next picture.
It was a picture of Mimzy looming over a black baby cradle, staring down at the baby inside.
"I look so weird, mum! Did I really look like that?!" Cygna yipped.
"NO DUH. Of course you did! Don't be ridiculous. Look at that lock of gorgeous hair right there! Those were the first roots of what is now your lovely hair!" I pat Cygna's head good-naturedly.
All of a sudden, there is a clatter of heavy objects falling over our heads, most likely caused by Fangy trying to eat Zachary or Wisp. Again. "That's our signal! Let's go and eat lunch, shall we?" I offer. Mimzy, Chicky, Lui, and Cygna all nod yes to it, and we all climb up the stairs back to the upper rooms...
