SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG AND SANDY CHEEKS?! WTF, d00d?!
Yeah, yeah, I've gone over this a whole bunch of times outside of Gaia, so I decided to just take a small portion of my Under Construction F.A.Q put it here so you can find out why the heck it's all over my profile page.
How did you come up with this weirdness?
I'm going to be brutally honest... I don't know. Back when my fancomic AGENCY didn't have a name and I was just mixing game worlds/cartoon worlds together, I had Sandy and Shadow working on their own, not together. I was illustrating a dream sequence announcing future events (making it up as I drew) and suddenly BANG! A love confession. Came right outta nowhere. I stopped drawing, read it over like seven times with mild confusion and finally decided that I liked it. Really. I don't remember what gave me the idea. It just happened.
Why Sandy and Shadow?
I suppose it's because I personally could see this happen in an alternate universe. I used to pair Sandy Cheeks up with SpongeBob like nuts when I was younger, but I realized it was kind of sad for her. She's such a mature character in the show and Sponge is just a big man-child who'd never return the feelings if she even had them. In contrast, Shadow gets paired with FRIKKEN' EVERYONE by his "fans", but I just don't see him being in any kind of relationship within his series. Ever. But that's just me. Anyway, two characters doomed single and just so happen to meet in my crossover comic... I thought it fit.
Why do you draw it so dang much?
Okay, I guess I just really like the idea. People say opposites attract, but in reality, opposites distract. Sandy's and Shadow's personalities in AGENCY may seem completely opposite, but they actually have some similarities. Those similarities are so few but so strong that they manage to keep the two together. Truth be told, I draw Shadow and Sandy a lot because I desired that kind of relationship at the time. Not polar opposites, but big differences with strong similarities. I find it really appealing.
