Her father from the start was a drunk
The ship had barely sailed before it sunk,
Her mother ran off with her father's only friend
Back then she was too young to understand.
She genuinely despised the girls at school
They didn't understand her, they could be so cruel,
All of them were too preppy and fake
She hated all their money and houses on the lake.
Late at night she sits in the dark alone
Her broken heart a cold river stone,
Befriending the dark shadows on the ceiling
And clinging tightly to a time before she was grieving.
She cut often, knowing it was a sick obsession
Liquid emotions ran through open skin,
It didn't matter that she could easily die
She'd be free, no one would care, nobody would cry.
An empty bottle of pills and another of alcohol beside her laying
Her heartbeat was erratic, her grip on life loosening,
She sat on the floor behind the locked bathroom door, a lonely lark
Never to wake again, she slipped into the dark.
