It doesn't take much imagination to figure out what happened next. The room went dead silent. For a full ten minutes, no one moved; they barely had the strength to breathe. In a matter of minutes, the future of the kingdom had gone from radiant to bleak.
"P-perhaps she was joking," my mother began hesitantly. She fell silent, knowing the truth. Her face crumpled in an instant, and she buried her face in her hands. Her sobs echoed through the room, somehow expressing everyone's pain. A few of the ladies, mothers, had slight leaks in their eyes as well.
"All hope is not lost, your majesties," the youngest fairy spoke up as my father drew my mother close.
"You can save Aurora?" my father asked, a tiny flame of hope beginning in his eyes.
"I cannot remove the curse," the fairy answered, cutting off this route. "I can only overlay another spell to counteract."
My father was silent now, thoughtful.
The court held its breath.
He looked at his wife and me. His face hardened and he met the fairy's gaze.
"How?"
She smiled a little. "I'll change the outcome. I'll keep her alive." She approached me, determined. "Little one, a curse has been placed upon your head. I release you from its power for one moment of your life. When your blood runs from your finger on your sixteenth birthday, you will not die. Instead you will fall asleep until true love's kiss awakens you."
I stirred slightly in my cradle.
"I've done all I can," the fairy announced.
"We'd like to speak with you two in private though." The oldest fairy approached my parents. "There is much more you must know."

Ringo-Ichigo's random stories
I'll just be writing short stories up here about whatever I feel like. They could be fanfiction, mysteries, ghost stories, dreams, or anything. Think of this as a little smidgen of what goes on in my head.

made of flowers
around your soft throat
not one girl I think
