My Mother censored movies, my father books. The books I clearly remember having to sneak were: Persistence of a Vision and... I think it was called Hobgoblin? It was some sort of horror novel with some sex in it. Later he gave up and took to xing out things he didn't want to read. He would write "no not read" in the margin in caps and put a big x over it. I would simply ignore the admonition not to read the scene and just read through. Father couldn't bear to censor in black pen like the government and it got so I barely noticed the thin little pencil marks.
