For the first time in three days, i ventured beyond my room. The break up may have tramatized me, but i put on a fake smile and stepped out the door.
I walked a block intaking the fresh air and smells that were quite different from the days before. As i turned the corner, my brother ,Matt, drove up to me
"Hey sis, wacha doing?" i new he could tell i was hurt in the inside, no matter what i did to hide it.
"Nothing to much, just taking a walk." i replied
"Do you want to go swimming at the river with Monica and I" how could i say no to this and act like i was ok? If i said no, they would know. It was mental force.
"Uh sure. I dont see why not." I hopped into the truck and to my house we went. I ran inside and changed into my black bikini and a pair of short shorts. Then, i put my long hair into a ponytail and rushed out the door.
Monica had shown up while i was in the house and was sitting in the truck. I bounced up into the truck and we drove off.
"Ali where have you been. i havent seen you in forever." she kinda looked worried. It made me kinda anoyed. I hate it when people dont think im strong enough for a simple break up. I may have been head over heels, but that doesnt mean that i couldn't hold my own head up every once and a while.
We drove off tho the Tree ,the spot at the river where we were going to swim. When we finally showed up, i thought for a second. Most of our friends hung out at the tree and if they saw me the first thing they would think is that im nothing without Mikey. Thats not going to happen
I jumped out of the truck and ran to the spot, jumped in, and sat under the cold fresh water. As soon as i ran out of breath, i bounced up. Everybody looked at me like i was crazy. Just what i wanted.
" Ali your nuts. That water is ******** cold." billy siad with his eyes locked on my smile. Of course he thought i was hurt but i got rid of that asumption with my bright, fake attitude.
As soon as i got out of the water i noticed someone standing on the edge dunbstruck. It was mikey.
I know that my smild very slowly faded and that everyone watched it disapear off my face.
Matt and Monica showed up at that second and stopped in their tracks as soon as they saw him. I walked past Mikey like he didnt exist and threw the smile back on my face.
The rest of the hour continued under a spell it seemed like. Lt and Ben found sticks and started whiping eachother with them. Then, one of them wacked me with one and i joined in. As we went on, Mikey joined in. later, it was just me and Mikey and everyone was watching intently. Wondering what will happen to what used to be the most happy couple in baker.
After about a minute or two, we started to get a little more violent. We really wernt playing. it was practically fencing. I was running on pure adrenline. This man was not going to beat me. He took my stick and threw it into the river then continued to beat me. The hits burner againsed my raw, cold flesh. I threw a puch as hard as I could at his jaw and heard a crack. A few second went by and i noticed that the crack was my knuckle. During my delay, he hit me as hard as he could acrossed my face. I moved like i just got slapped but it felt nothing like it. i could have screamed if i wasnt so determined to win. He hit me again, but this time i blocked it. The pain seared through my elbow. He pinned me up against him and stared into my eyes with a smile of victory of his face. I swung my head back and thrusted it forward as hard as i could twards his. i heart a crunch then he backed up holding his nose. Everybody was in awws. I felt a tear come out of my eye, then suddenly Matt grabbed me and walked me to the truck. He drove me home.
I had to listen to his complaining and lectures for the rest of the night. We went outside to continue a discussion.
Cameron, Shas roomate of which are both Matts good friends, stopped by to say hi. When it came time for him to leave, the shook my hand. I flinched and let a wimper escape my clenched teeth.
Cameron backed up and looked at my hand. Then he proceeded to look me over with more suspision. He asked what happened and then Matt started talking. i begged and pleaded for him to shut u, but e proceeded with the trecherous story. The time came to where i had to beg Cameron no to tell Sha because Sha knew Mikey and my past for abuse. He said if he did anything like that again to count on him dead. The one thing i always knew about Sha is that he never kids.
Cameron swore to me he wouldn't, but sure enough i got a txt the next morning saying that Mikeys was all his now. I spent a week with Sha knowing that he wouldn't do anything if I was around.
A night came around when Matt wanted to hang out with me. i said sure not aware of what was going to happen.
We were at Billy's and I wat txting Sha while sitting in the truck all alone when i heard a tap on the window. It was Mikey. Of course I let him in thinking that he was going to apoligise. I was wrong. He locked the doors and started yelling at me for no apparent reason. Matt was watching the whole thing which didnt make his situation any better. Soon enough Matt unlocked the door and grabbed my phone.
"Dont you dare Mathew." I said thinking he was going to listen.
"I wont on your phone." He said it like he wasn't going to do it at all.
MIkey and i continued fighting untill i heard a loud truck behind me. I turned ever so slowly and peered out the back window. Sha was leaning against his truck waiting. But for what? His pray was sitting right next to me.
"Mikey i want you to get out of the truck and run as fast as you can out of here. dont look back, dont stop, just run." i whispered it so quietly, a mouse would have asked me to repeat myself.
"No i'm not moving. I'll take what ever he dishes out." I started crying. I got out of the truck and ran over to Sha.
"Sha please dont, you know ts not right."i screamed. I'm suprised he could even understand me. Or could he?
"Get in the truck Alianne." He wispered.
" Are yo giong to get in with me?" i asked.
"If you truely valued him, you would get in the truck." You can guess, I got in.
He leaned on the truck for 10 minutes until Matt drove off With Mikey in the truck. Then, Sha got in.
"Why did your brother call me Ali." He said
"I dont know." I wispered back.
"Bullshit Ali, there had to be a reason and you need to tell me it now." He was getting to a yell , but in my oppinion his voice wasn't high enough yet.
"I don't know Sha. I told him not to."
" Why would you hava a reason to do that. Why did you tell him not to."
I knew I had said the wrong thing. How stupid of me.
"I'll make a deal with you Gater. If you dont see, talk, or even look at him, i wont touch him. But if you do, his life is only one phone call away. You got that? is that a deal?" He was speeding now. i could tell he was furious.
"Its a deal." i wispered while gently sobbing.
" Okay then. You cant be by him or even be in thesame place as him. Is that clear? If he farts and you can here it, you better be running the other way. But if he decides to try to see you, i make a phone call and he'll go missing by the next morning. Remember I know most of the people in this tiny town, so dont think you can get away with it."
He Drove me home after an hour of driving around and lecturing.

I went a week without Mikey, then wrote him a letter. He was foolish to carry it in his back pocket and you can guess it fell out. My luck kicked in and of course, Matt found it.
When i went to Shas that day, Matt talked to him privately. then they both confronted me. They came to conclusion to give me another chance.
I havent seen Mikey since, but i do e-mail him cause that the only way we cant get caught.
