I'm back from working on the Geek.Kon 2008 Convention! It was a long, hard, arduous journey, which nearly pushed me over the edge. I had to put my Anime Impressions blogs on hold and working with the UW on this thing was a pain in the A$$! We nearly lost all of our vendors after the UW demanded anyone selling anything (including artists) had to sign a waiver of worker's comp, provide proof of auto insurance if they used a company car and (and this is just unreal!) provide proof of $1,000,000 in Liability Insurance! Oh yeah, they did this to us just 2 days before the convention!

Fortunately, one of the vendors decided to argue the logistics of these requirements with the lady in the Risk Management Office until she cam up with a waiver for everyone to sign.

Still, the whole ordeal has let me with a feeling that the UW doesn't really want us here. Despite the fact we brought in 1,144 people, many of whom were teenagers still in High School.
