Upstairs Downstairs
I've watched all three seasons. It was interesting enough to watch, in that it was a stunning piece of propaganda. Everyone who looked for joy and self fulfillment met with disaster. It wasn't always immediate, but it was invariable. The senior servants were to be counted on to deliver homilies on how important it is to keep your place. It was subtle enough that the average person watching might absorb the message without noticing that it is happening. Insidiously evil. No wonder people voted for Thatcher. I give them props though, since it's vastly cleverer as a rightwing conspiracy than anything American fascists produce.
