"No Title"
Everything started out so smoothly.
Small-talk on the phone, email,
A few candid comments expressing your
Love for me.
Then your parents dropped the bomb.
"I'm moving," you told me one
Autum Wednesday.
You were packed within a week,
And soon you appeared on my doorstep,
Tears in your eyes.
Reluctantly my mom and dad left the scene.
"You look cold," you said as you wrapped your
Arms around me.
I said nothing, just held you close.
Then you gave me the kiss I had
Been waiting for.
Four years later my family and I
Watch as you pull into my driveway.
My you've changed.
You are no longer the middle school
Boy you were so long ago
When you were here last.
My parents greet yours, but
No words are spoken between us.
Only awkward silence.
You're taller than me now,
And your short dark hair
has grown out.
Eventually you leave to meet new people,
And I go back to my homework,
Trying not to cry.
A few days later I see you at school.
I rush to you and you give me the kiss I've been
Waiting for.
"I waited for you," you say as
We walk to class, together again,
Holding hands.
