Lilly's gentle hands carefully turned each page as her azure eyes quickly scanned the book, reading with an intense interest and focus which was left undisturbed until Lucias returned through the door, closing it quietly as his long black form moved through the room towards Lilly, keeping one hand behind his back at all times.
Lily heard a sound and looked up from her book, her eyes lit up with happiness as she saw it was Lucias returning, a large smile splitting his deathly pale skin, showing his perfect white teeth. Lilly chipped happily at Lucias.
“What have you got behind your back Lucy?” She spoke freely as she always felt at ease with Lucias around. Lucias simply smiled and pulled the rose from behind his back, catching his wrist with one of the sharp thorns of the black, dull and dead rose.
Where blood should have seeped out, all that left that wound was dust.
Lilly's face was frozen in horror, then, in an instant, became a picture of complete and utter curiosity and happiness. Lucias was stunned at this reaction to the in-human thing that had just occurred in front of his friend's very eyes. Lilly was jumping around the room, speaking so happily and quickly it was completely incoherent.
In a moment or so Lucias managed to calm down Lilly and sit her softly down in the dark purple velvet sofa they had been sitting in the day before. Lucias lowered his head, his cold, red, empty eyes meeting Lilly's, so fresh and full of life. Lucias allowed himself a kind smile as he looked into Lilly's eyes.
“Lilly, please be calm, I know that that was a shock to you, but if you remain calm I will explain everything.” Lucias's voice was soft and caring as he spoke, carrying a particular understanding of just how to soothe the listener.
“Your a vampire aren't you Lucias?” Lilly's beautiful voice broke in front of Lucias's, cutting his sentence off completely as he stood, his mouth agape (this only providing further evidence to this claim when his elongated canine teeth where bared for all to see.) as he attempted to fathom how she could have figured that out and kept so calm, so calm that she in fact looked happy about this, happy that a monster, an ancient evil of legend now stood in front of her.
“Lucias, please answer me, I need to know, because if you ain't then we will need to get you to a hospital.” Her face was now one of concern and caring, her voice with a small hint of sadness. Sadness in a voice as elegant and beautiful as Lilly's would be enough to make the devil himself confess his worst sins to the gods just to make that soul be happy again.
“Yes....I am Lilly, I am sorry I didn't tell you, I thought you would leave me. I wouldn't be able to continue living if you left me.” He hung his head in shame, his voice one of total sadness and regret as he spoke.
Lucias was prepared to get up and leave Lilly, in an attempt to keep her safe from himself now that she knew what he was, but before he could get up in an effort to leave, he felt the warm touch of Lilly's hand on his cold and lifeless cheek. He looked up and to his amazement Lilly was still smiling, her face betraying her glee and overwhelming joy over this occasion. She knelt down to Lucias's level and wrapped her arms around Lucias, pulling him into a loving embrace as she now had the one thing she wanted most. A real, live vampire. Lucias could do nothing other then hug Lilly as she hugged him, for he was also overcome with joy and happiness for he had found the one thing he truly desired. Acceptance, even when Lilly knew what he was she still accepted him and still loved him.
Once the embrace had ended, Lilly stood up straight, still looking into Lucias's eyes as she bent down and kissed him lightly on the cheek. She then walked away towards her room, a slight bounce in her step, her long and fair hair bouncing just out of sync, as she moved to her room. Once inside the room she closed the door quietly, attempting to avoid making any noise as she did so. A slight click was made as the door slowly rested into the old door frame. Lilly jumped onto her bed, her light and golden hair spread out around her head like a pool of yellow silk as thoughts raced through her mind at this discovery. Through the huge amounts of plans and ideas there was one that stood out above them all.
“I will be a vampire after all, once I convince Lucias to convert me, then we will be together for ever.” Lilly's smile became smaller as sleep began to take hold of her, her delicate eye lids slowly closing over her shining sapphire eyes. Her last word of that night was simply the feared name. “Vampire....” her voice trailed off into a soft breath as she finally was enveloped into a deep and peaceful sleep.
Lucias just sat, his face betraying his confusion, his eyes moving rapidly, though he was not looking anywhere. Lucias's mind was racing as he eventually got up and moved towards his room. He opened the door and closed it with care equal to Lilly's.
Once he had entered the room Lucias fell into an old, black leather chair which he had instead of a bed. As he slowly sunk into the chair his thoughts began to slow as he felt sleep take him also, he stopped looking confused as one thought shot through his mind.
“She loves me, she loves me, even though I am a vampire she still loves me.” His face was split into a smile as he fell into a trance like state, undisturbed until the morning.
