Pride
by Danny Fernandez
Look now where you lie,
withered, and unrefined,
overlooking blinking lights,
oh what happened to your pride?
A reflection glaring back
as your faces crack,
as your champagne smile is now,
scarred with gums and plaque.
Memories of better times,
you sinned, you laughed, you cried,
your face, your smile, a camera lens,
oh what happened to your pride?
Every day now fades,
into a smoky haze,
left a stub upon the bed,
and your house went up in flames.
Look now where you lie,
a letter by your side,
And scribbled on in biro, reads,
'Oh what happened to my pride?'
