A child calls out into the dark
"Hello, is someone there?"
She stops and listens...
It must have been nothing.
Her disapointment shows,
She had been hoping he was here
He should be by now
Its been long enough
He never comes
Shes always alone
Each night she waits hoping
He'll come home
Shes waited so long
All her life
For him to come home
So she can run down the stairs
And give him a hug
Each night she waits
Til shes fallen asleep
And each morning she wakes
Starts another wait
She wants so dearly
That one precious hug
The one where he holds her close
Then picks her up
And says to her
Your my little girl
Though the years have passed
And shes changed and grown
She still waits for the hug
Of daddy come home
"Hello, is someone there?"
She stops and listens...
It must have been nothing.
Her disapointment shows,
She had been hoping he was here
He should be by now
Its been long enough
