THE STORY:
You don't have to know me well to figure out that I adore Winged Anklets. Ever since I joined Gaia in 2004, I wanted them. Badly. However, back then, it was harder to make gold, so I was very poor and could barely afford anything-- let alone that beloved item which was worth about 400k. I was frustrated, so I quit for a few years. At the beginning of 2007, I took it up again. I made a lot of friends this time, rather than being the noobish loner that I was, and I had a lot of fun, making more gold in the process. However, now the Winglets cost a lot more, with an average of 5-600k. I gave up on them and focused on other items with a slightly lower price range.
And now, thanks to a dear friend of mine, I've taken up the quest again. However, since the 2% tax reared its ugly head, it has inflated twofold, wavering between 1.4 million and 2 million gold. It still feels out of my reach, but I refuse to give up this time around. I have too many people backing me up that believe I can do it this time. And so, I hope to have my Winged Anklets by Halloween! Thanks, guys!
THE FACTS:
I've never been a very rich Gaian, but I've made enough to get by with several different (and unique) wardrobe changes every few days-- sometimes every few hours. Nonetheless, I've done the Math. *Insert shudder here* And upon further investigation, I have come to a startling and depressing conclusion: Even if I were to sell ALL of my monthly collectibles and generally high-ish-priced items, I will still only have (approximately) 66% of the funds needed to acquire Winged Anklets. I scoured the Marketplace for the average buy price of June 30th, 2008, and have come up with the following statistics.

I'm pretty much SOL. -_-;
If I sell ALL my items worth at least 1k, ruining many potential outfits and depriving me of all of my MCs, I'll still only be 88% of the way towards getting my winged anklets. (This percentage was much lower before they suddenly dropped in the MP heart ) And I'm not willing to sacrifice over half my inventory for one item... no matter how shiny it is. (The other half, FYI, consists of those free 'quest' items from watching dumb movie trailers for lame promotions. rolleyes )

UPDATE: I, Neko-Ryuku, have finally purchased Winged Anklets as of Wednesday, August 13th, 2008 for 1,013,000 gold. EPIC WIN. 4laugh
