Part 26
“Sandina, Sandina, come in Sandina.” Chikaru said as she heard the static on the radio. “She isn’t replying. I’ll keep trying.”
“I hope she’s alright.” Kitko said. The gang of half-breed werewolves cam out of the forest and began attacking the barrier. “We’ve got company.” The barrier was beginning to crack. “Their constant attacks are cracking the barrier!” Kitko exclaimed.
“Sandina will have to wait. You and I need to protect these people.” Chikaru said getting her sword ready for battle.
Sandina felt the energy being drained from her body. She slowly began to fall back. Keto pulled his teeth out of her shoulder and caught her in his arms. “Now to finish my little sweet treat.” Keto sunk his teeth into Sandina’s neck. Sandina grew pale. Her eyes slowly shut when Keto dug his teeth into her neck. She lied helpless in his arms.
“I… can’t move… my energy is gone.” Sandina thought. She opened her eyes half-way. Her vision was blurry from the loss of blood.
Once Keto had finished having his fill of her blood he slowly pulled his fangs out of her neck. He lightly licked the blood trickling from his lips. “Don’t worry darling, the pain will only be there a little while longer. And then, you and I can truly know what it means to be close.” Sandina tried to speak, but her voice was gone. In her anger she managed to grab ahold of the last knife at her side. She slowly put it to Keto’s throat. “Go ahead and slit my throat. Drink your fill. I’ll even cut it for you.” Keto wrapped his hand around her hand and the knife. “Come on. My blood will taste delicious to a new vampire.”
Sandina dropped the knife and it tumbled down her leg. Keto lovingly stared into her eyes. His face turned slightly red. He gulped and slowly came in for a kiss. Sandina’s heart was racing. “Do not fight it Sandina. Just be mine.” Keto’s eyes closed but Sandina’s widened as his lips met hers.
“They’re breaking through!” Chikaru shouted when she saw the claws going through the barrier.
“What are we going to do?” Kitko asked getting her slingshot ready.
“Having Sandina here would help. Hell’s Ridge isn’t far from here. I’m sure she’s close by, and she can run really fast. I’ll call her up.” Chikaru began to call Sandina’s communicator. “Come on Sandina, pick up.” Keto lied Sandina down and picked up the communicator off the cave floor. “Sandina? Ya there?”
“Sandina is a little busy right now.” Keto said with a gentle hiss.
“Who in the hell is this?!” Chikaru shouted.
“I’m her mate. From now on, Sandina is mine. You’re on your own humans.” Keto crushed the communicator in his hand.
The static left Chikaru speechless. “I know that voice. Keto has Sandina.” Chikaru thought as she stared at the communicator.
“So is she gonna make it?” Kitko asked.
“No… Sandina won’t make it here.” Chikaru replied. She kept what she heard to herself so not to worry Kitko.
“Then what were you screaming about?” Kitko asked.
“Oh, it sounded like someone different.” Chikaru said thinking of Keto. “But don’t worry. Once we take care of these were-mutts we should be able to meet her in the morning.”
A werewolf’s head managed to get through the barrier, but Kitko shot him back with a marble. Shaun saw Chikaru and shouted to the men, “Remember the blonde is mine!”
“Chikaru, my barrier might not hold up much longer.” Kitko said. “I’m also running low on ammo.” She added.
“I know, I’m running low on energy too. Then I’m going to have to use this.” Chikaru took a two ounce, black, plastic bottle from her back pocket.
“That’s my experimental spitfire! How’d you get it?!”
“I live four doors down from you. How else do you think I got it?”
“But it isn’t complete yet Chikaru. That stuff could kill you!”
“I have to if I want to save this village.”
“Just use a few drops then. Don’t swallow the whole thing at once.” Kitko said as she shot two werewolves back with a sticky bomb.
Chikaru nodded and she put a few drops in her mouth. Her eyes turned blood red, and her body was engulfed by flames. Kitko had to back away because the heat was too much to bear. The ground beneath Chikaru’s feet turned to lava. With each step she’d take a lava print would be left behind.
“This is amazing. I feel more powerful than before. It’s like my very blood has turned to fire.” Chikaru thought. The werewolves stopped attacking the barrier and were awestruck by Chikaru. Shaun didn’t care. He pushed himself through the barrier and it shattered. Kitko ran in front of the house where all the people were. Chikaru made a mad dash towards the werewolves. The heat from her forced many of them back, but Shaun stayed close and fought her. He could cut through the flames to her body, but Chikaru was too fast. She dodged his attacks from within the flames. Shaun jumped through the flames and wrapped his arms around her.
“Chill little pup.” Shaun said as he dug his claws into her arms. Chikaru stomped down hard on Shaun’s foot; breaking all the bones.
“Don’t.” Chikaru spun and punched him across his face. “Ever.” She kicked him in his groin. “Call me.” She punched his gut. “Pup.” Chikaru said throwing him out of the flames and into a tree. Shaun peeled himself off the tree and Chikaru fell to her knees. “What the? My body is giving out on me?”
“Poison tipped claws. I see it’s already taking effect.” Shaun said with a chuckle.
“CHIKARU!” Kitko shouted. Chikaru turned her head to see Kitko fall to the ground in a blood mess. The werewolves had torn into her body so badly her body was soaked in blood. Chikaru forced herself onto her feet and stumbled over in front of Kitko. She stretched out her arms.
“You aren’t going to lay another paw on her.” Chikaru growled.
“And you’re suppose to stop us?” a werewolf growled.
“You can barely stand yourself.” anther barked.
“I don’t have much left before I give out too.” Chikaru thought when she saw Kitko feinted behind her. “Then I better make this swift.” Chikaru thought. She wrapped two fire dragons around her arms. The flames roared around the werewolves. Another werewolf came up behind Chikaru and snatched Kitko.
“Hey mutt!” Chikaru looked back to see Kitko. The werewolf had one arm around her body, holding her arms down, and his other hand he had a knife. He put it to Kitko’s throat and Chikaru’s heart jumped into her throat. “Now that I’ve gotten your attention, put your flames down.” Chikaru didn’t know what to do. “Do it or else I’ll slit her fragile throat.” Chikaru let the fire be quenched and let her arms fall to her sides. “Good girl.”
Shaun walked up to Chikaru. He hooked his foot around the back of her leg and tripped her. “Men, raid that house. Take anything and everything you want. Kill what you don’t.” Shaun said. The werewolves tried to get into the house, but they were thrown back. “Anti demonic barrier? How can that be?” Chikaru smirked. Shaun saw her smirk and kicked her side. “Take it down now wench!”
“Stupid dog, I can’t touch it and neither can any of you. I found a human who could erect those kinds of barriers. There’s no way you’re ever getting in.”
“You filthy wench.” Shaun kicked her and Chikaru went flying. She crashed through a door and slammed against a shelf. She skidded down the wooden wall and fell face down into the ground. She was too tired to move. Shaun took his club and kicked open what was left of the door. “If I do not get what I want I get mean mutt. I’m the only full werewolf in this place now. Your father is just about to transform. His desire was to transform you. And I will grant his wish.” He leaned his club against the doorframe and transformed into a full werewolf. His teeth were like razors. “Ready to be transformed?”
Chikaru got up on her hands and knees. She saw beneath her a broken silver plate. As Shaun jumped for her she took it and ran it into his chest. He coughed out blood and it splattered on Chikaru’s face.
“Not today Shaun.” Shaun fell to the ground and howled. The werewolves busted into the house and saw the broken silver plate in Shaun’s chest. “Oh great.”
“Now you’re friend will die!” the one with Kitko in his grasp put the knife back to her throat. Flames engulfed the werewolf before he could harm Kitko. The flames didn’t burn Kitko but carried her back to Chikaru. “Now get out of here and never come back.” The werewolves ran out of the village back to the mountains. Chikaru put Kitko on a straw bed and covered her with a ragged blanket. She quickly went back to the people and found the village healer to help wrap Kitko’s wounds. The people celebrated at the loss of their enemies.
Keto was playing with Sandina’s hair and running his fingers through it. “I’m surprised. You’ve been so much, yet your hair is still soft.” Keto took the knife that Sandina dropped and ran it gently down Sandina’s face. The blade didn’t even make a scratch. “Do you fear me my sweet treat?” Sandina hissed and her body transformed. Keto wrapped his hand around her mouth and nose. “You’re not transforming completely unless I want you to.”
“He’s going to suffocate me at this rate.” Sandina thought as she struggled to breathe. Keto saw that Sandina was transforming back into a human so he took his other hand and placed it on her chest. “Odd… she still has a heartbeat even though I’ve bitten her and drained her of almost all of her blood. What is blocking her from becoming like me?” Keto wondered and he kept feeling her heart beat.
Part 27
“Well Keto, so you could capture the girl after all?” The two vampires that attacked Chikaru in the room with the lion statues flew in through the mouth of the cave.
“Though you sitting on top of her like that and your hand covering her mouth I’m assuming you’re going to have some fun with her.” the other chuckled.
Keto got off of Sandina and walked to the front of the cave to meet the two vampires. Sandina gasped for breath and keep coughing. She could feel her body being able to move. “Of course, since Keto’s not the only energy in here now I can move a little.” Sandina thought.
“What do you two want?” Keto asked straightening his coat.
“We want to have some fun with the human too. That’s why we came out here so we could retrieve her and get mess with her a bit.” the first vampire side.
“Her blood is no good to you half-wits.” Keto hissed.
“HALF-WITS?!” they shouted.
“How dare you call him and I half-wits!” the first hissed.
“Ya, where do you get the nerve calling us that you half-breed?!” the second shouted.
“On the contrary, I became a full vampire a week ago. This makes it fair for me to do this.” Keto wiped around and the bottom of his trench coat cut the vampire’s heads clean off. Their heads tumbled out the cave and down the craggy trail and their bodies fell one on top of the other. “A clean sweep.” Sandina in shock managed to get to her feet. She saw their blood dripping down from his coat. She couldn’t believe her eyes.
“He actually killed them in one move. And with his jacket. That’s cool yet it scares the crud out of me. Why did he do that?” she wondered.
Keto turned his head slightly and grinned back at her. “I wouldn’t want them even touching my woman. They’re not worthy of even kissing the ground you walk on.”
Sandina felt her strength returning swiftly. “This is my chance. I’ve gotta take him down now.” Sandina thought as she ran at Keto to strike him. Keto blocked her fist with one finger and forced it down. He turned and pushed her to the ground with his fist, nearly breaking her back. She braced herself and skidded a bit on the ground.
“Please don’t be that way Sandina. I do not enjoy hurting you.”
“Take it up with this.” She twirled on the ground and swift kicked under his feet. Keto jumped up and stood above her looking down from the ceiling. Sandina ran up one of the walls and leapt towards Keto. He stepped to one side and she missed him. She began to fall to the ground, but Keto swiftly went by her and caught her in his arms in midair. “Let go of me!” she made a punch for Keto’s face but he bit down hard on her fist. She winced as she felt his teeth go into her hand.
When Keto let her fist go Sandina grabbed it with her other hand. “We shouldn’t play so roughly in this gloomy cave. Maybe at the inn where we will stay we can really play rough.”
“You sick jerk!” Sandina slipped out of his arms and landed on her feet. “I’m sick of you flirting with me and calling me your sweet treat. I’m not your bride and I’ll never be your bride!”
“That’s not up to you Sandina.” Keto said floating down in front of her. “You see, I’ve tripled my power by drinking your blood. No matter how much you fight me, no matter how much you may plead for me to stop, no matter how much you cry…” Keto smirked with evil delight. “You’ll be mine.”
“Would he really do that to me? Would he really force me to…” Sandina wondered as she backed up.
“What’s wrong Sandina? Aren’t you getting excited? Aren’t you ready to be really close to me?” Keto said taking a step forward every time she took as step back. Sandina had backed herself up against the right cave wall. Keto smirked and snapped his fingers. 10 steel rings burst out of the wall. Two wrapped around each leg, two around each arm, one around her waist and one around her neck. They had her tightly pinned to the cave wall. She looked across the room and the left side had the same rings. “It’s so easy to back you up into my little snare Sandina.”
“Where do you get all this stuff?!” Sandina hissed.
“Simple my dear, e-bay.” Keto said with a smirk.
“I guess it’s true that you can find anything on e-bay.” Sandina thought at she rolled her eyes. “But more importantly, how in the heck do I get out of this mess?!” she wondered. “Why are you doing this to me?”
“Because I love you and I can.” Keto said curling his finger under Sandina’s chin. “Now go to sleep my dear. We have a ways to travel to the inn once nightfall appears.”
“You can guarantee I’m not going to sleep now.” Sandina said trying to pull her head away.
“Oh yes you will. My nightly kiss can put anyone to sleep.” Keto kissed Sandina lovingly and all of a sudden she felt tired. “Not strong enough to put you to sleep instantly I see. I’ll have to fix that.” Keto kissed her again and she instantly fell into a deep sleep. “Sleep well my earth angel.”
“Hey doctor, will Kitko be alright?” Chikaru asked.
“I’m afraid she has suffered a great deal of damage. Her heart rate is irregular and she has lost a great deal of blood. I’m surprised she hasn’t gone into shock yet. The best thing for her would to go to that hospital in the city and quickly.”
“Is there anything we can do out here?”
“My sources are too limited. I wish I could do something, but it’d be pointless. She needs a stable place to recover and she cannot get that here. The fastest way back to the city is a direct route, just following the southern road.” The doctor said after he rewrapped Kitko’s wounds with fresh bandages. “This is almost constant bleed. Within a few hours she will bleed to death.”
“Then I have no other choice.” Chikaru carefully lifted Kitko onto her back. “I’ll make a run for it now.” Chikaru grew a long werewolf tail and her hair turned black. “At least this form comes in handy.”
“I should’ve known you we’re a half-breed. You were way too strong to be a normal human.” the doctor said in shock.
“Yeap. But I’ll fix that when the time comes.” Chikaru raced out the door onto the main road back to the city. “Just hang on a little longer Kitko. I won’t let this be the end. No matter what.” Chikaru thought as she raced down the dusty road.
